15 Apr 2008 Crestock Launches its Referral Program and WOW!
Crestock launched its referral program today, and I’d like to be the first to say “WOW”! The commissions are among the highest of all microstock agencies and it’s perfectly implemented.
Affiliates earn 50% of what referred buyers spend and 10% of what referred contributors earn. Crestock are launching with a referral period of only six months, but they’re going to reassess this once they have some data to analyze.
The referral statistics (pictured below) are comprehensive and simple, showing all relevant information on a single page. The referral code is basic to add, and can be used when linking to any page on the Crestock website. A large variety of banners are available as well as an image search box with the referral code embedded.
With their referral program strategy and execution, Crestock have given themselves the best possible opportunity to make it work to their benefit. I’m looking forward to seeing how I can make it work to mine as an affiliate.

Posted at 09:48h, 15 AprilI think that is a desperate measure … they sell few, and they pay few … i allready decide not to contribute with more images, and as soon i can receive i will delete all my images there.
For me they don’t deserve the effort of the upload … and i give them (and all the other new sites) more than one year to prove.

Posted at 09:53h, 15 AprilWow! How can they afford this? Will we get 50 % of subscriptions too? Then we can make 90 bucks a month per subscription 😉 That’s the same as selling almost 400 images ON subscription. I think I will have to become a microstock salesperson instead of a photographer.

Posted at 13:12h, 15 AprilPhotographers has only 20% (OMG!!) on sold photos in crestock, so they can afford for 50% referral commision… for only 6 months.

Posted at 19:10h, 15 AprilI am not too impressed about this referral program, 10 % of 0 is still 0…. I also think it is desperate measure to boost the site… Well I hope their strategy will succeed they have good quality images

Posted at 08:51h, 16 AprilLaurent writes about a desperate measure and it might be true but with one of the most fantastic user interface in the microstock world, I do not think this shoul be considered a bad move.
Considering the fact that it always take some time for any contributor to start making a bit of money on a stock, Crestock’s referral program is not aimed at recruiting more contributors. I doubt that there will be a lot of money to make there.
On the other hand, Crestock is making a fantastic move in something not one microstocks even dared considering. They don’t have enough buyers, so they’ll do more than the others to attract them.
Like you said Laurent, 50% of 0 is not much but if every one of us start to promote Crestock a “the” place to get images, I am quite sure it will become 50% of a lot more.
We just have to promote Crestock for buyers, not for contributors. You can start attracting customers by a simple promotion of Crestock Daily Free Image for example. This feature can be very good for casual buyers. On the other hand, if you know people who are responsible of businesses or non profit organisations, you can encourage them to get any images they need on Crestock more than on any other of your microstocks. With a payout like this, that is at least what I will do.

Posted at 10:35h, 16 AprilThey do not convince me to place my photos there … atracting buyers to receive 50% in only 6 months, no way … i have plenty of other interesting agencies, that give me less for a life time …
I still believe that they are despaired, the future will tell …

Posted at 06:09h, 17 AprilMajusC00L,
You make a good point, this program is very advantageous for any photographers that can utilize it right. With the right approach, this could dramatically increase everybody’s microstock earnings.
Its true this program wasn’t designed to attract new photographers in particular. This program is aimed at bringing new paying customers to Crestock. I would then conclude that with the increased customer activity, most photographers interested in increasing their earnings will join anyway.
All the best with it,
Josh
