Microstock Earnings Report June 2007
Posted by Lee TorrensThe June-July slump hasn’t spared us this year with our earnings down at almost all our agencies. June and July are characteristically slow months in microstock, so we were expecting June’s results to be down. We also expect next month to be even lower than this month before rising in August.
We made $446.81 from selling photos in June, which was actually not as low as we expected.
Here’s the data.
| Agency | Earnings | Portfolio Size | Per Photo | Percentage |
| iStockphoto | 157.08 | 601 | 0.26 | 35% |
| ShutterStock | 128.30 | 577 | 0.22 | 29% |
| Dreamstime | 61.00 | 522 | 0.12 | 14% |
| LuckyOliver | 34.90 | 108 | 0.32 | 8% |
| Fotolia | 24.85 | 439 | 0.06 | 6% |
| BigStockPhoto | 13.50 | 157 | 0.09 | 3% |
| StockXpert | 13.50 | 16 | 0.84 | 3% |
| 123rf | 5.93 | 23 | 0.26 | 1% |
| CanStockPhoto | 5.50 | 363 | 0.02 | 1% |
| Crestock | 2.25 | 19 | 0.12 | 0% |
| Totals | 446.81 | 2.30 |
Observations:
- BigStockPhoto and LuckyOliver were the only agencies to increase this month
- We had an extended license sale of $25 at LuckyOliver
- Fotolia’s two week outage for the V2 upgrade put a dent in June’s earnings
- Crestock earned us $2.25 this month, so doesn’t appear on the charts
Here’s the charts.

Would you mind providing a link to your Lucky Oliver portfolio. I find sales to be very SLOW there.
No worries. I’ve placed the link on the About page. LuckyOliver are new, so currently sales are relatively slow – but they’re picking up quickly, as you can see from my charts.
Thanks Aishi.

It would be nice if they had a “ETA until review” counter like Canstock (i think?). I love their site, but the review time is unbearably long.
I guess they’re not really making any $$$ yet. One year and not much profit. I don’t think I could deal with running a microstock start-up. Contributing, on the other hand, is great fun, since it is like a free Pro Flickr site (with the caveat that your photos get deleted every year when they don’t sell).
Can you guys direct me towards a results report for 2006 similar to the one on this page?
Hi Alex, it’s slim pickings, but see my post on displaying earnings online.
