I am slowing down a little bit with my microstock production, but, fortunately, I don't see a summer slow down in my earnings yet. IS returned back to my #1. IS + SS = 70% of earnings.

I had a drop on sales on some agencies but overall I had an increase of 9% comparing to may... my biggest drop was shutterstock, but dreamstime and 123rf sold much more than last month.

I uploaded a lot less images than I did in may and i think that contributed to the drop on sales as well

cheers

Hey Robert, it's an expression meaning that I haven't done any more shooting nor is there any set plans to do so. But I'm building up passion and excitement about resuming shooting again. I've learned so much this year and can't wait to put it to use!

Hi Lee,

I was curious to verify some data after reading your monthly earning post, and I found out the confirmation of a thing I already suspected: that June wasn't historically the lowest month for me.

But what I want to point out here is that there is an obvious reason why people do have mostly a low sales in June/July. is the fact that consciously or not, we tend to submit less images in the summer! Sure, also buyers are a bit on the 'vacation' mood, but that is only a partial reason (or an excuse to work less? :-)) for decline in sales. We must remember that the market is now global.

Last year, I have invested a lot of time to improve my portfolio overall and I have submitted consistently along all year (an average of 120 images per month). Result? More sales, also in summer! Is not a magic formula, but in stock, more often than not, it works.
Back in 2007 and 2006 the growth was tiny, but was there as well. Because I didn't stop to upload new images.
Indirectly you confirm this my opinion with Jack's numbers, that are stalling or declining, after he stopped submitting...

The exception is when you sell (you did! :-) also without submitting new material to agencies.

cheers
